Thank You For A Wonderful Year!
Mano and Baldeep Duggal, the owners of Phidon Pens, want to share their thoughts and express their gratitude for the support that has been shown over the past 14 years of business and wish everyone a happy holiday season.
2022 is almost a wrap and we are truly grateful for so much. We are in our third year since the start of the pandemic and we made it through all the lockdowns and closures thanks to the wonderful support from our customers who are local, and those who have discovered us all over the world on the online shop. We want everyone to know that we are here because of each one of you, and your support of our business. A small business is so much more than just the products they sell; they are ingrained in our community and are the heartbeat of downtown Cambridge. We wear our hearts on our sleeves every day.
Because of the support we have received from pen and stationery lovers all over the world, we have made a commitment to donate monthly to the YWCA Cambridge, which supports women in our community. They give a voice to women, girls, non-binary and two-spirited youth in Cambridge. Here at Phidon, we believe that this monthly donation can go a long way. Mano believes that building community is important and we are slowly expanding ourselves outside of our little store. The staff at the YWCA are a huge asset to our community and an inspiration for all the work they do. This monthly donation is possible because of our customers’ support, both local and worldwide.
We were able to continue to enrich our community with a new volume of the 100 Notebook Project, where we donate notebooks to organizations that want to participate and have an exhibit to recognize their ideas and creativity that was poured out onto the pages of the notebooks. The goal of the 100 Notebook Project is to make a difference one notebook at a time by unleashing the creative elements of one’s thought process, be it a written word, sketch, or doodle.
The University of Waterloo School of Architecture is in our neighbourhood. We have had amazing university students work with us and we couldn't be happier. We feel very strongly about what a school like this brings to downtown and we have had the great pleasure of setting up a scholarship in Baldeep’s father’s name; the Dr. Daleep Singh Memorial Fund for a Masters of Architecture student who is doing architecture research in Africa. Baldeep’s father was the Dean of Social Sciences at the University of Delhi and the head of the department of African studies at the same university for a long time. We believe that it is important as Phidon continues to grow worldwide through our online platforms and as we grow older as a business that we are capable of leaving a legacy for the next generation. We continue to share our values of community, education, and of course writing instruments.
All this is possible with every person’s visit to the brick-and-mortar store and every online order we receive. Again, we are so thankful for everyone and wish you all a lovely holiday season and a Happy New Year!
