Refresh Your Writing Kit: Our Spring 2023 Picks
Spring is finally here, and we’re ready to head outside for an adventure—but not without our pens and notebooks, of course! Whether you are looking to treat yourself to a new pen or you’re looking for a writing gift that has that extra wow factor, we can’t wait to share with you our stationery essentials for Spring from the many recent arrivals at our shop.
The 2023 Limited Edition Lamy Safari Collection
Lamy Safari pens are without a doubt one of our bestselling pens. Whether it’s the ballpoint, rollerball or fountain pen, they are incredibly popular with writers of all ages. Their sturdy ABS plastic construction makes them durable enough to withstand all kinds of abuse, whether it’s being jostled around in a backpack or getting dropped on the sidewalk. This makes the Safari pens an excellent everyday carry pen option for field sketches, work and study notes or travel journaling
Best of all, this iconic pen come in a wide range of colours, so there’s something to suit everyone’s style and preferences. For 2023, Lamy has released 3 limited edition, vibrant pastel shades for the Safari series that are simply perfect for Spring: Aqua Sky, Light Rose and the aptly named Spring Green. Any one of these colours could be just the inspiration you need to get started on your first warm weather adventure of the year. If you’re picking up the fountain pens and want a matching ink, we recommend having a look at Sailor Shikiori “Souten” for the Aqua Sky, Pilot Iroshizuku “Kosumosu” for the Light Rose, and Kyo No Oto “Kokeiro” for the Spring Green.
Kokuya Pasta Pens
If you’re a student prepping for an upcoming exam, you likely will be using some sort of colour coding system to organize your notes. One of the biggest challenges of writing out notes with a fountain pen is the difficulty of highlighting the written information without risking a messy page full of smudged handwriting. At 2am in the morning, the last thing you need is an illegible page. Luckily, Kokuyo Pasta Pens solve this problem once and for all. This nifty solid gel marker is the perfect highlighter to use with fountain pens. The pen has a blunt rectangular tip just like conventional liquid highlighter markers that makes marking each line a breeze. Thanks to its unique solid gel formulation, Kokuyo Pasta Pens won’t pick up or reactivate dried fountain pen ink on the page, which means you can highlight to your heart’s content.
Papelote Elastic Pen Loop
We know it can be hard to leave the house with just one notebook. The Papelote Elastic Pen Loop allows you to keep your small stash of notebooks and favourite pens together in a tidy, little bundle without any additional bulk. These fantastic bands are handmade in Czechia and come in lots of fun colours. Because they’re made from a durable elastic, the pen loops can accommodate a wider range of pen widths. These pen lops are available in both A6 and A5 sizes from our shop, but will also fit B6 or B5 notebook set-ups respectively. They’re definitely a must-have for anyone that prefers to keep their stationery organized in their bags while on the go.
Letterfolk Passport Journals
From books to concerts, coffee to beer, restaurants to amusement parks, no matter your passion, Letterfolk Passport Journals offer a great way to document your experiences while enjoying your hobbies. These beautiful pocket journals are printed with prompts to help you document your adventure and create a wonderful keepsake. Their compact size make them easy to bring along in a small bag or even your back pocket anywhere you go.
Field Notes Expedition Notebooks and Fisher Space Pens
Neither the Field Notes Expedition Notebooks nor the Fisher Space Pen Bullet Ballpoint Pens are a new addition to our store, but this popular duo is sure worth a mention when it comes to outdoor-ready writing gear. As the saying goes, these are oldies, but goodies.
Mud in the backyard, rain the forest, if you have a penchant for outdoor note-taking or -reading, there are bound to be occasions when your notebooks risk damage from dirt and water. The Field Notes Expedition Notebooks are a great option for anyone that requires a waterproof solution as part of their writing routine. Made using Yupo synthetic paper, these notebooks are tear-proof and washable. While you won’t be able to write with fountain pens in these notebooks, they do work fantastically well with ballpoint pens and graphite pencils.
Speaking of ballpoint pens, if you’re the outdoorsy, hands-on type, there’s nothing we could recommend more than keeping a Fisher Space Pen ballpoint pen in your writing kit. These pocket-sized pens are fitted with a pressurized ink refill that allows you write effortlessly in any orientation. Whether you’ve propped the notebook against a tree trunk or the side of your garden shed, you’ll still be able to write smoothly without skipping.
